Supernanny: Collins Family (U.K. Family)

by Sarah Gilbert, posted Apr 5th 2005 2:50AM

supernannyI wondered if there might be a little less respect for Jo Frost in her first televised experience with a U.K. family - after all, part of her authority in the U.S. comes from her natty accent. But, in typical Supernanny fashion, she whips the family into shape. The four Collins children looked from the first frame to be the worst family yet; their behavior was truly horrifying, from swearing and spitting at their mom to throwing a brick (a brick!) at Jo. They won't even submit to the naughty zone technique; four-year-old Joseph spends a whopping hour-and-a-half in (and, many times, out) of the zone before finally apologizing in tears. Of course, it wouldn't be on TV if Jo didn't turn them around. By the end they were giving each other high fives for being ready on time for school. The best part of the episode was the aberrant behavior by Dad, who decided to take matters in his own hands and punish the kids for everything from talking back to laughing at dinner. Jo's response: "What are you doing, Dad? You're suffocating them!" I'll bet lots of moms (like me) will see some of their own partner in Jason Collins.
