ER: Refusal of Care

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 21st 2005 11:23PM

ERFirst, to answer your question, yes that was Fred Koehler, Chip from Kate & Allie, as the legal aide trying to make sure the woman who wants to be on a hunger strike is not helped by the emergency room team. A very good actor (he has also guest starred on Taken, Cold CaseBoston Legal and had a shocking role on Oz several years back). Second, when did Morris become such a major character? I used to think of him as the annoying extra character who was there for either comic relief but would be gone once he killed a patient or stole drugs or something. Now he's up for chief resident? Huh. It's hard to review a show like ER. I mean, what can you say if there aren't major plot developments concerning the lives of the regular characters? Pratt fixes someone's hip? Abby thinks an elderly woman is being abused? Jake's pants fall down? That all happened, but it loses something in the telling. The end shot of the woman eating Jello was rather poignant (I know that's a weird sentence, but it makes sense if you saw it).

I agree with Bob and Guido The eye thing was cool, and I like Pratt becoming more of a teacher. He's settling down as a doc and is going to be good. The hunger strike angle was good. But it was BORING! They need something to kick it up a notch.

You got Morris being a major character out of that episode? The guy's a lacky and was shown to be that by being given the runaround during the episode. I thought it was a good ER, but it did have a lot of stories they were trying to tell at the same time. The key to end this season is the growth of Pratt. The Hip thing was him learning to become a "teacher". The Cancer lady was more of him using his brain rather than the brawn. I thought the hunger strike angle was very well done.

Heh...yeah, the eyeball was something. At first I thought the guy was joking around or something.
