Whats the deal on the NFL Draft?

by David Thomas, posted Apr 22nd 2005 1:59PM
draftThe news/hype surrounding the NFL Draft is just intense this year. My Miami Dolphins plan to be big movers tomorrow and I'm really excited about watching what happens. The problem is until today there was no notice of when the Draft coverage starts on ESPN or NFL.com! WTF? Five and a half hours of Day 1 Draft coverage starts at noon EST Saturday on ESPN. Round two starts at 11 a.m. EST Sunday. Finally, NFL.com has the time up in front. Sheesh. My personal hope is that someone trades for Miami's #2 pick. Especially the Redskins. I'd love getting Cadillac Williams (doubtful) or Aaron Rodgers (boy has his stock dropped) or Pac-Man Jones at #9 and Jason Campbell or Odell Thurman at #25. And with a second round pick now we could get Fason at RB maybe? Oh man I can't wait. Anyone else as excited as I am?

B, That's because the NBA playoffs will last 2 months. The draft is very important and takes two days. plus we've had nfl inaction for awhile.

I agree. I never once saw any information regarding even the date of the draft, let alone times. Granted as the date got closer, I stumbled upon that, but not the times until I just read this. Strange. I'm a college fan myself. Although, I pull for the Titans, because I lived in Nashville. With me it's all about the Auburn Tigers. They are saying it's possible Auburn will have up to 4 1st rounders this year. Williams, Brown, Rogers, and possibly Campbell with a late 1st round pick. I heard Washington might like to have him. I'll be watching.

I'm always suprised that the NFL draft gets more attention than the NBA (or, in a more enhlightned age, the NHL) playoffs. Both start this weekend, after all, but a lot more column ink has been spilled about the draft.
