Deadwood: Childish Things

Deadwood
It would seem the episode title “Childish Things” comes from bar owner Tom Nuttall's new bicycle. Its arrival leads to a heavy wager on its ability to traverse the thoroughfare. But the title is also appropriate for the building tension between Alma and Martha Bullock. 19th century civility prevents them from pulling each others' hair out but you can tell there is a rumble brewing between them over ole Seth. And as always Sol seems to get the brunt of his partner's rage. A rage that obviously can not be directed at the two women in his life. That's why Deadwood is really interesting. If the situation happened on a TV drama set in Six Feet Under-land the conflict resolution would be muuuuuch different. Seeing how the wild west dealt with the everyday dramas of love and intrigue is darn compelling television.
