Tough time slot to fill

by David Thomas, posted Apr 25th 2005 9:02AM

GiraldoA new version of Tough Crowd With Colin Quinn is being attempted to fill the slot it once held after The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Except this time Tough Crowd will feature host Greg Giraldo, a regular on Quinn's version. We're guessing Quinn turned down reprising the host of the irreverent and sometimes hysterical show because of the way the series was treated by executives looking at the ratings. They were miffed the show lost half the audience of The Daily Show. Maybe they don't understand that the reason The Daily Show does so well is because everyone turns off their real nightly news to watch Jon Stewart, then they turn on Letterman or Leno. The fact that Quinn kept anyone is pretty impressive. Other shows considered for the slot include another Giraldo series, Gone Hollywood, a D.L. Hughley project and a new Adam Corolla show. Please no more Corolla.

My wife and I still have the last episode of Tough Crowd on the DVR. We watch it whenever we want to see Patrice O'Neil cry.
