Trekkies give up on Enterprise

by Keith McDuffee, posted Apr 25th 2005 9:54PM
trekunited logoThe campaign led by TrekUnited to keep Star Trek: Enterprise alive has finally come to a bitter end. After two months of frantically trying to raise enough money through fan donations to keep the series around for another precious season, the fan-run website will be refunding the $144,173 accumulated through Paypal donations and mailed-in checks. The reason for the failure? Paramount doesn't want Enterprise around anymore. Go figure.

NEVER GIVE UP NEVER SURRENDER!!! If 1,000 enterprise fans made 10 copies each of any enterprise episode from this year (thats 10,000 copies into circulation), and put the paramount phone #s on it with a note for them to call the #s and ask for new episodes "specifically for the series to return", also should ask them to pass the episode on to another person to watch, and when they have watched it and called paramount, they shold also pass it on to another person to do the same. this would be an endless pass on!!! This would cause a landslide of calls to paramount, as well as gain new fans when they see how good this 4th year of enterprise has been, also the note should request that Manny Coto be put in charge of the trek franchise as his efforts this year prove that He is what TREK NEEDS, he has brought a fresh take on trek that is as good and even better than the origanal series. I will be posting this idea all over the web, and have already started making copies of an episode that I will be distributing ( I plan on getting at least 100 out myself), this must be done for free so as to avoid infringing on copy write laws. Paramount thinks they have won by refusing the fans campaine monies, WE HAVE JUST BEGUN TO FIGHT!!! Thank You for your ear and I hope as many who can, do this, sincerly Bruce Allen a 47 year old fan since age 7 with the origanal series.

As much as this makes me very sad on principle, (first time in at least 20 years that there has not been new episodes of trek on the air), Maybe this could clue Rick Berman and the like into reality. You can't just put shit on to the air, put Star Trek in the title, and expect that the fans will come in droves. Star Trek has always been about quality stories, above all else, and that is what draws the commitment it has recieved over the decades (Even the original series was a quality series for its time). Hopefully they will actually spend some time to develop a quality premise for a series now, and cast some good actors (no dogs please). Trek still has a shot, but there are no more second chances.
