by Keith McDuffee, posted May 5th 2005 2:49PM
mtv logoTeetering on the line of TV news and movie news, MTV has recently posted their list of potential golden popcorn statue winners. Besides the usual boring categories, there's Tom Cruise in Collateral up for Best Villain, the LA destruction scene in Day After Tomorrow up for Best Action Sequence and Jennifer Garner and Natassia Malthe up for Best Kiss (note to self: add Electra to Netflix queue). There's also a new category of Best Video Game Based On A Movie. Is it just me, or is this a really bad year for that category to debut? Read on for the full list.

I'm a Tim McGraw fan....of his singing and acting. I enjoyed watching 'Friday Night Lights', and I think Tim did an awesome job. The father he played was so much different than the father he actually is. Playing a role so different than who you are, and being good at it, is the mark of a great actor. I mean, he has a long ways to go to be compared to Tom Hanks, Mel Gibson, and actors of that caliber, but I do think he deserves the nomination...even if it is only the MTV Movie Awards. Congrats, Tim!

Looks like Drew and Fever Pitch were skipped over by MTV for there 2005 MTV MOVIE AWARDS. Appears as though all nominations were for 2004 released movies (50 First Dates was released in 2004 but won at the 2004 MTV MOVIE AWARDS). Kind of odd seeing as though Fever Pitch was heavily promoted on MTV and TRL before its premiere.
