Robin Roberts new co-host of Good Morning America

by Bob Sassone, posted May 9th 2005 1:01PM
Robin RobertsSo is The New York Times reading too much into this promotion for Robin Roberts from newsreader to equal co-host with Diane Sawyer and Charlie Gibson? They see it as not only a natural promotion for Roberts, but also as a potential step toward either Gibson or Sawyer taking over for Peter Jennings on World News Tonight. Of course, ABC would never confirm or deny any news like that, so for right now it's a wait and see thing.

I've been a viewing fan for a number of years...I've always enjoyed everyone on the program - but when Robin came aboard full time - it really pleased me. She appears balanced, a little nutty, fun, and so sensible...I enjoy her sense of humor, her serious side, and her ability to laugh so easily. Charlie, Dianne, and Tony (sadly, who's now gone) have all kept me interested and coming back for more. One thing I recall hearing her say was Robin's comment about an auction with something of San Diego's Tony Gwynn - and she lost out to someone else - and I wondered something. Would she have any interest in a signed Tony Gwynn baseball? I am not a weirdo - Tony is a spokesperson for our company, and he has kindly provided us signed baseballs. I was packing my desk the other day (we are re-locating) and found two extra signed baseballs. I would be honored if Robin would want it, if I could send it to her??? I know she is a sports fan- and likely a weekend athlete. Well, I am sure she likes to get out on the court and mix it up a little? If it is not being too personal, perhaps she could send me an email and let me know if she is interested in a gift from our company - I think it would please everyone here to know she accepted. If at all inclined, please respond. Many Thanks DS - log time fan/viewer

dear robin, you are doing such a wonderful job with your community since the storm. i have never had the pleasure of meeting you but i started working at the ms coast coliseum in 1987 and was so honored to have met your mom. she is so wonderful. never a harsh word about anything or anyone. i sure hated to see her leave when she did. i am still there but it will be a while before we get back on our feet. i wanted to see if you could me a little info on how i could get started on helping get my sons school back up since the storm. he goes to hope academy christian school in d'iberville, ms. i am sure you are familiar with that little community. it was totally demolished. his school and all. it is just a small school. i think it is like 75 students or less. the church and all will have to be redone. monetarily i cannot do anything but i now have time to try to do whatever i can to get it started. i will unemployed from the coliseum for probabaly around a year. any info you can help me with i would so appreciate it so much and i know the church and school would also. of course, there was no flood insurance so that knocks out any money from there. thanks for reading this and anything you can tell me i would appreciate. please tell your mom i said hello and things haven't been the same since she left. her and bonnie bishop were such good friends. i work in the ticket office there and she never missed coming back there after a meeting just to say hi. thanks again robin

GMA has always been a favorite of mine because they have the important issues to the common Joe. Not stuffy and documentory like the other morning shows. The best is that they give you enough info to allow you to proceed with your morning that you do not have to see the tv to get the message across. I have always enjoyed Robin as a person that is down to earth and genuine. She gives a perspective from the heart. Never taking sides and seems to enjoy what she does. It is refreshing to see women with different backgrounds coming together with warmth and sincerity. Keep her, she will deliver. Look out Charlie!

Robin- Congratulations on becoming "a big girl now". My mother always watched GMA and even though my friends have tried to change my opinion, I have never swayed. You, Diane, Charlie and Tony are my morning wake-up. You look great at the desk and I am glad your there!

Congratulations to Robin Roberts. I enjoy GMA and particularly Ms. Roberts. I use to watch that other morning show but changed several years ago because I enjoy the GMA team so much.

Robin Congratulations. You have alwlays been my favorite on the program. The other two anchors are good but I really like your smile and a sense of humor. By the way, I will graduate with a Masters Degree, one month before I turn sixty.
