Introducing the top contributors list!

by Bob Sassone, posted May 10th 2005 8:54AM

iPod ShuffleYou may have noticed that list over on the right side of the page. It's our new Top Contributors list! Here's how it works: post a great comment and we'll give you a star. Get the highest number of stars in the month of May, and you win a new iPod shuffle (or $100 in cold hard cash via PayPal, whichever you prefer)! Second place gets $50!

Another great feature: your name will be linked to your web site, if you have one, so maybe we can help increase your traffic too. We're building a community here at TV Squad, so keep those posts a-comin! And thanks for visiting.

Umm...I have more than 2 stars. Hell, I have 6 in this thread alone. What's up with that?

I'm just wondering why does it says in the list that i've only posted 5 comments. Not that it reallt matters but it's just kinda strange since i've posted around 30 something.

Sorry, but I am still unclear: The number of stars beside our name is the number of stars we get for THAT POST, right? I'm just curious because you've stated that rarely will people get more than one star, but there are a lot of posts with two stars (and more)-- though maybe there are just a lot of really insightful people here. ;)

One more thing: I understand what the 'STAFF' overlay means, but what is that over Underdog's name? SPLUS?

Thanks for the info. Yep, I meant that I post from home and work. Since each post has to be confirmed, I have to use my work email while here--since my glorious employer blocks other email services.

Gordy: do you mean you post from different places or you post to different blogs? If you use the name Gordy on your TV Squad posts we'll keep track of the total for you.

Dave: if you make a comment that we like, we give you a star (in very rare instances, two). Only one staffer will give you a star for one post. I don't think there's a way to see beyond the top 20, but it's something we're working on.

So how does the recording of the stars work, for the little logo beside our names? Does it count how many of the staff members have given us a star for that post, or total stars, or something else entirely? Is there a way to check our total if we are not in the top 20? I think this is a very cool idea, by the way.
