Blogs are every bit as legitimate a source of news as the networks, and much, much easier to see through if they're wrong. TV news is just a one way street, one person talking at you, whereas if a blog writer is wrong you can respond, they can correct themselves, etc. I think it would be interesting if instead of commenting on blogs, some of the news shows had the guts to have a companion blog where they throw in all their source material for their stories, and let people comment on them directly. It would go a long way toward rebuilding their credibility.

The moment a newscaster uses internet shorthand on air, I will believe that blogs are a legitimate form of news. Then I will put a gun in my mouth.

Blogging about a show that disses blogs about shows [shades of infinity mirrors anyone?]

Blogs are not news, not yet. I remember when TV just came out and they started to do news stories people thought they were awful and swore that print will never be replaced. Don't get me started on when radio first came out now that was the cat's meow. Reading a blog on air is not the problem finding good ones like this might just be.

Actually, it's blogging about a tv show that's reporting about tv shows reporting on blogging, which are reporting on tv shows. Ow, now my head hurts.

Dan Rather summed up all this by showing his disgust for people who report news in their pj's. Certain people are just "upset" that there's a new media that is doing more than putting teeth holes in their on-air careers. So if viewing blog posts on the air is so distressing, why are they doing it? So someone can creatively insult the concept? So we can have a war of words? Eh! We're not boring. It's all about entertainment and who can dish it out FIRST! Of course the scoop they're flinging to the finish line needs to be :::::::accurate::::::::: which is why I like to stay away from "facts" and concentrate on other topics of blog worthiness. There are plenty of journalistic predators out there prepared to stalk and hunt down the facts and present them anyway they want. That's why I like the entertainment aspect of what happens when they accidentally leave pertient evidence on the carcass for the rest of us to chow down on.
