Arrested Development's Coming Back!

by Karina Longworth, posted May 16th 2005 10:49AM
ArrestedDevelopment_lg.jpg Thank you, Peter Liguori - thank you. Days before Thursday's "upfront" presentation of the fall schedule, the head of Fox Entertainment has announced that Arrested Development will definitely be back in the fall for a third season. E! Online's TV gossip Kristin had inferred last week that the network had perhaps ordered two full seasons - all this from a cryptic reference made by star Jason Bateman to "twins" - but, uh, no matter how much we love the Bluth family, that would have just been insane, and today's statement suggested a standard, 22-episode, one season pickup. Still - yay! Frozen bananas all around! Also back on the FOX schedule: Pam Anderson titcom Stacked, and, somewhat surprisingly, The Bernie Mac Show. According to Variety, "news doesn't appear to be good for laffers Quintuplets or Life on a Stick."

Man, I can't wait for the follow-up on George Michael and Maeby's kiss. What tenuous AD plot thread are you dying to get back to in season three?

Love the show, it's funny, etc. One small problem I have is with the math. The Bluth family lost anywhere from $10,000 to $100,000 each episode as in broken homes, attorney fees, lost accounts and on and on. How did they ever start a company with that luck. I don't wantt them to turn into constant winners but a little more profit to offset there loses.

I was wondering if there might have been any sort of hidden meaning in Jason Bateman's recent cameo on the Simpsons this past Sunday. Then again, it was pretty hard to get much out of the Simpsons, Family Guy, or even American Dad because the sound cut out for the majority of Fox's Sunday night block.

Ms. Featherbottom YES! And Bernie Mac is a fantastic show... and didn't Life on a Stick last longer than Titus? No. Bateman was referring to the twins he sired with a certain Jennifer who thinks she's having a certain Ben's baby(ies)...

Thank God! I have to admit I was feeling panicky and guilt-ridden, due to the fact that my schedule occasionally prevents me from watching AD. But now I'm really really really relieved. I will spend all of next season (and this summer) recruiting everyone I know to love this show as much as possible. And same here about the Season 2 dvd!

I can't wait for the continuation of the George Michael and Maeby kiss either. And I totally agree on the Season 2 DVD needing to be released.. hm... NOW. Yay AD!

Peter Liguori, you da man. Thank you for rewarding the act of brilliance that is "Arrested Development." And as Sugar put it above, I have disposable income and I'm willing, nay eager, to spend it on Season 2 DVDs.

I hope George Sr. has to impersonate his brother for an entire season. It would be funny seeing him pretend to be stoned and thinking that Buster sees through his charade. Also, Michael should accidentally jump over a car with his new calf muscles!
