Still Standing: Still Getting Married and Still Exchanging
I'm really glad they kept around the character of Perry (James Patrick Stuart), the guy with the fake accent who's in a Foghat cover band. It really looked like they were going to have Linda suddenly realize (in typical sitcom fashion) that she didn't really love him and would listen to Judy and call off the wedding. But they threw a curveball and had Perry convince Judy that he really loved her. So there was no season-ending cliffhanger with her either calling off the wedding or maybe having a freeze-framed on her "I do." But it wouldn't have been a season-ender anyway, since it was the first of two season-ending episodes, and the real last episode of the season was on after. Brian has a chance to go to Italy for the summer, and though he gets over his initial nervousness about being away from home for the first time, Bill isn't so lucky: he's upset/pissed about his son leaving. How to remedy the situation? Share a beer with the kid before he boards the plane. ("Airports are like international waters, they're not subject to laws"). Not really a "cliffhanger," but since when do sitcoms have to be cliffhangers? (Will and Grace's "Stan is still alive" surprise was an exception). It's great to see this show come back next year. It's probably the most underrated sitcom on the air right now, with a great cast and always one or two laugh out loud moments per episode.
Great line: "Don't worry, you'll get used to the food" - Bill, when Brian says he'll be blogging in Italy.
