The show I won't be watching tonight

by Bob Sassone, posted May 24th 2005 2:01PM

Rob and AmberSo the season is almost coming to a close and the regular shows I always watch will soon be in reruns, but there's nothing on this good green Earth that will make me watch Rob and Amber Get Married. I don't care that Zap2it.com calls it a "best bet" for tonight (what, is The Simple Life on every other station tonight or something?) Maybe when they air Rob and Amber Get Divorced or Rob and Amber Are Banished From TV Forever I'll watch, but until then...

The sad part is you and I both know that this isn't the last we've seen of the couple on TV. You know a "couples" version of Survivor has to be in the works.

Its really too bad that you didnt watch the wedding. I am always surprised by people with such ill-wishes towards other people in TV. Rob and Amber are guilty of bending and manipulating every possible rules to be part of social experiment. People get on their high horses and judge them when all they have done is played a game with whatever strengths they think they have. It is a game. They wanted to win. Period. On the other hand, if you watched the amazing race or their wedding you would have seen how respectful and protective and sweet they are to each other and to their friends and families - the people that matter to them the most. Given that TV editing is largely responsible for creating animated "TV character" I was surprised that they didnt show more of "bad, evil, manipulative" Rob in the wedding show. The reason they didnt was because there was no such raw footage. Rob or Amber were not playing a game anymore. They were sincere in their love for each other and their families. It was truly beautiful and I wish them all the best in their lives. God Bless

Too bad you chose not to watch. It was wonderful, very down to earth and lovely. First time I've watched a tv wedding and must admit I was teary eyed several times. Your loss.

Editorial correction: It's pronounced "Ambuh." And yet you guys *still* won't hire me as an editor? :) (By the way, one more correction: I appear as "R-Broi" on the contributors list, but it's supposed to be "R-Bro." It's like calling J-Lo "J-Lop" :)

They should milk their 15 minutes for all its worth and then get on with their life. If they won a million dollars on survivor, it was probably paid out over 20 or 40 years with the option to take a lump sum right away. So that million is maybe 500,000 right now. Then taxes could eat half of that. A quarter million is nothing to sneeze at, but it doesn't make you independently wealthy. They can buy a new car and put 20% down on a house near Boston. Thats it. So they get CBS to pay for their wedding, and get some kind of payment on top of that (I assume). Good for them.

I think this is a consolation from CBS to prevent Rob and Amber from complaining about the "plane incident" from the Amazing Race. We all know that something wasn't kosher about O & J getting on that plane. Although, I am glad they won!

I'm holding out for "Rob and Amber get killed and eaten by wild boars."
