Lost: Exodus (Part Two)

lost exodus part 2 2Things were a bit ... disappointing for this season ender of Lost. While there were lots of great scenes throughout the episode, most of the mysteries we all wanted answers to are still ... unanswered! Let's go over what was bad in this episode and what was good.

lost exodus part 2 1First, the bad. J.J. Abrams and company had said we'd see a portion of the "monster" tonight. I think for a half a second I saw some kind of rope or chain pulling Locke, but I'm still not sure. One thing is clear though, the monster/security system is definitely at least partially mechanical. The sounds it made were clearly metal-on-metal at certain times. Then there was that weird smoke when it blew up (I got my best shot of it to the right). At one point it sort of reminded me of the thing from Predator, sort-of invisible but not.

We never get an answer to what the lottery numbers really mean. There are several numerical references throughout the episode, such as the gate number for the flight (23). Hurley finally sees the numbers on the side of the hatch and panics, but still, no answers there or even a hint as to what they're there for. Also, what about Walter's mysterious powers, and the polar bear?

Probably the most anticipated event of the episode was the opening of the hatch. What did everyone expect? I'd say a good portion of you expected to see at least something more than a long, broken ladder down into nothingness. Sure, it leaves us hanging until the next season, but does it really make us want to discuss it all summer long at the water cooler?

Now for the good. The dynamite scene was more tense than I could've imagined. I just knew Arzt was a redshirt from the moment he was introduced, and though he was a little interesting, I'm glad we didn't get a new main character forced down our throats like that. I loved his dialog with Hurley about there being more than just the main group we see on the show for survivors, and how he's at least lost some weight this whole time (note: we see him in flashbacks, and I swear he really did lose weight since those scenes!)

I was totally taken by surprise by what the raft guys encounter at sea. When Danielle mentions she heard voices say they were after the "boy," I didn't even consider Walter. Now that is the scene people can discuss this summer - who the heck were those guys on the boat? They sounded possibly American. I don't even want to get into wondering what they want with a young kid, though they may know of Walter's psychic abilities and want to put them to no good.

There were some great emotional moments between Sun and Jin and Jin being told he'd "never be free," then the cut to him out in the open water. Michael made a good point about that island being so big and one that should surely be on a map. We learn that Charlie's addiction is still intact and also the name of Claire's baby, Aaron (not 'Ethan' as some theorized).

Still, Lost is a great show and I can't wait to see how it starts out next season. Will they spelunk down the open hatch hole and find something cool? Is Sawyer dead? How will the guys survive at sea with the raft destroyed? And once and for all, what in the hell is that monster? I'll keep my ear to the ground and make sure I reveal what I know once our new weekly spoiler column starts here soon. Stay tuned!

Quote of the episode: "You got some Arzt on you."

1: In the piece of script (or so they want us to think) that we can find in oceanic-air.com, sun is intending to kill someone, and kate seems to b helping her. Also, it seems it is to the protection of someone else (probably jin). So, who can it be??? no one of the group for sure. Maybe someone from "the others"? 2: Charlie is running from the monster, barefooted too, but nothing on the episode that came out has to do with this scene, so what is the sense you think this makes? 3:Finally, this "piece of script" e for sure a giveaway, something to keep us wondering. Also, nothing of what it says was shown in this episode. So, I think it probably will be shown in the beginning of the new series, don't you agree?

There is something I dont understand: John Locke saw rhe 'Monster', and it didn't hurt him. They are always loking up to the monster, but on the ABC site, they say that it is an underground monster. So somebody tell me how could be that possible?

i agree with what the korean lady said. Each person on the island is marooned there for a reason. -charlie was a heroine addict, sawyer was a murderer, kate was a con artist and a murderer, etc. on the oceanic-airs website, when you get the seating chart and you click on edward mars and then refresh at the right moment, while the computer is still loading you'll see a face you couldn't before(it's freaky!)

IMDB says "Bearded Man" was M.C. Gainy (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0301370/#guest-appearances). Is that what the guy looked like?
