Delay takes swing at Law & Order

by Chris Thilk, posted May 27th 2005 12:45PM

Texas Republican Tom Delay is upset over a line from last Wednesday's episode of Law & Order. In the show, one of the detectives investigating the murder of a judge says maybe they should put out an APB for someone in a "Tom Delay t-shirt." The line is a reference to Delay's recent comments regarding judges and their perceived liberal activism.

NBC, to its credit, backed up L&O creator Dick Wolf by saying the show is a fictional drama and viewers know the difference between it and reality. Unfortunately for NBC's ratings, it turns out Delay heard about it from a friend of his wife.

Let's be clear here: Delay's "recent comments" implied that "judicial activism" was the reason people were grabbing guns and taking aim at judges. It was as disgusting as when a political liberal tries to use "poverty" or "oppression" to excuse suicide bombings in Israel or Iraq. Given that, this joke was not only correct, but damn funny. Delay ought to shut up and take his lumps.

I'm glad Delay can take time away from his busy schedule of ethics violations to take a pot-shot at a TV show. Maybe later he can take on Murphy Brown?

Wolf the Dick can inject any dialogue he wants into his shows; but it sure seems that he has gotten much more political in the past few seasons. Guess he is just another bleeding heart liberal who cannot handle eight years of "W".

Glen Harness,

Shouldn't the headline of your post be "Law and Order Takes Swing at Delay"?
