Your guide to all the summer reality shows

by Bob Sassone, posted May 27th 2005 1:25PM
Tommy Lee - API'm glad David Bauder put this list together. I think I would get really depressed talking about all these crappy reality shows premiering this summer. OK, obviously they won't all be crap (and we need summer programming to get us through til the fall season), but I've just overdosed on all this reality. There's one good thing about so many reality shows on the air: maybe it will make their eventual demise come earlier than later. Though I doubt it. See the list below for a quick rundown.

ABC:
  • Dancing with Stars (June 1)
  • The Scholar (June 6)
  • Brat Camp (July 13)
  • Welcome to the Neighborhood (Unknown)
CBS:
  • Fire Me ... Please (June 7)
  • The Cut (June 9)
  • Rock Star: INXS (July 11)
NBC:
  • Average Joe - The Joe Strikes Back (June 21)
  • I Want to be a Hilton (June 21)
  • The Law Firm (July 28)
  • Meet Mister Mom (August 2)
  • Tommy Lee Goes to College (August 16)
  • The Biggest Loser (September 13)
Fox:
  • Hell's Kitchen (May 30)
  • Princes of Malibu (July 10)
  • So You Think You Can Dance (July 20)
WB:
  • Beauty & the Geek (June 1)
UPN:
  • Are You the Girl (Unknown)

Ok, so far, the only ones boasting about these summer reality shows are the networks. Try not to break your arms reaching behind so often. - The neighborhood ( can we say teach us racism and hatred) - Hit me one more time (Has been singers get embarrased like those idols) - Beauty and the Geek (Desperation porn) - Dancing with Stars (who says any of them can actually dance Where is Gene Kelly and Charisse) Want some entertainment for the summer evenings.... ---NCIS on Sunday at 9 and Tuesday at 10. They may be repeats, but its better than scripted reality, which by the way, they make 3 endings for. --- Veronica Mars on Thursday at 8 Light mystery figured out by a cute and attractive Kristen Bell.

Looks like the networks are trying to prove reality shows work, but all they are proving is that they are running out of ideas and now companies are trying to use it for self promotion.... The Cut - Tommy Hilfinger (desperate for new ideas) Scholar- Walmart (trying to win back and bury bad publicity) Dancing with the Stars - (Trying prove reality shows work by using celebrities) INXS - (trying to find a lead singer or its over) Unknown - (resurgence of Loverboy; Tiffany - AKa American Idol) Martha Stewart (Apprentice) - desperate for money she got caught stealing No matter how you slice it, it looks bad for viewers. Even Canadian Idol almost kicked off a singer because he sang old songs and not POP. The show was to be for talent... obviously not!! A good show to look forward to is Veronica Mars. Light, sensible, and stars a cute Kristen Bell. Similar to Nancy Drew but quite enjoyable.

No, but I think it counts as one of the seven signs of the apocolypse.

Doesn't NBC's "Hit Me Baby One More Time" count as a reality show?
