GSN and Outdoor Life Network pick up reality reruns

by Keith McDuffee, posted Jun 1st 2005 10:50AM
gsn logoPlease, someone help me understand the logic in this move. GSN (formerly the Game Show Network) has just picked up the rights to rebroadcast all past episodes of The Amazing Race, while Comcast's Outdoor Life Network has picked up all ten seasons of Survivor. Does anyone really want to watch reruns of these shows, especially when the outcome is rather well known? I thought the ability to own the DVDs of these shows was already enough.

Any idea when they will start airing the shows? I would love to watch The Amazing Race again. I don't care about who wins, it is just fun to see all the locations around the world that they go to.

While I have no interest in rewatching Survivor, I would watch reruns of The Amazing Race... primarily because it is my favorite reality show and I have only seen season 1 and the last 3 seasons. I missed 3 or 4 in between and don't know who won. You can't buy past seasons of The Amazing Race on DVD yet so it doesn't bother me at all that GSN is going to put it on.

Even weirder (I think), is the channel I happened by on my DirecTV yesterday: Fox Reality (http://www.foxreality.com/), where you can check out all your favorite episodes of all the reality shows you've never heard of, plus COPS, Joe Millionaire and Last Comic Standing (which is already showing on at least a few other channels, right?) thrown in for good measure.
