Six Feet Under: Dancing For Me

Six Feet Under: Dancing For MeThis is one of those pre-transitional SFU episodes where nothing much happens, but hints are made that some major things are about to happen.

Part of SFU's charm is that these hints are subtle. Still, it would be hard to avoid asking these three questions:

Is Billy going off his meds? - Apparently, at least one of his anti-psychotic medications is rendering him a bit lacking south of the navel. Claire is forgiving of Billy, but Billy is not so forgiving of himself. He flushes some of the meds down the toilet. Dead giveaway that he's gonna go off at least some of his 'scrip. Last time that happened, his mind went awry. Don't dismiss the possibility of this happening again.

Is George about to have - with metaphoric license to that great Stones classic- his Nineteenth Nervous Breakdown?- Granted, Ruth is picky picky picky to the top of the scale. Yet after his electroconvulsive therapy, George's memory is not all back. A visit from George's  daughter Maggie helps things temporarily, but it is plain to see just that. Since Ruth is absolutely

demanding that everything in her home run efficiently, and George is not capable of peak efficiency, the potential of a clash between an obsessive mind and an imprecise mind is vast.

Are Rico and Vanessa getting back together? The woman Rico had met on Match.com and briefly dated is now avoiding him, but doesn't want to tell that to his face (although that's never happened to me personally, yea right), he should b able to tell. But see,Rico is either too insecure, obsessed, or just clueless to read her signals.  He drives to her apartment, convinces her landlady to let him in, and she has quite a fit. Bummed and even more insecure than normal, he drives over to his ex-wife's Vanessa's house, and lies that the woman he had been seeing had "died." Given that Vanessa has exhibited a finely honed b.s. detector toward just about anything Rico says, I find it puzzling that not only is she dripping with sympathy, but agrees to go out with him and the boys that evening.

If you're wondering about the episode title Dancing For Me, let's just say that Maya walks in on a marital moment between Nate and Brenda, and starts dancing in a similar cadence to the rhythms and sounds of what her Dad and stepmom are doing.

Predictions: Billy and George are headed for some very rough patches. Rico and Vanessa back together? Far less likely.

According to the TV Guide podcast (who repeated the rumor from somewhere else), the season ends with a glimpse at all the main character's deaths.

I'm so glad it's the last season. I hope Billy goes on a killing spree and wipes them all out.

Ruth is awful her mini-breakdowns are like nails on a chalkboard, I see why Claire hates her. Everyone on that show needs serious therapy but the next electroconvulsive session should have Ruth strapped down.
