Judge Gray writes to her fans

by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 17th 2005 8:47AM
Amy BrennemanNow here's something you don't see every day: the star of a canceled show writing to her fans. Amy Brenneman writes a letter to fans of Judging Amy to explain what happened to the show and to thank fans for all of the support. She also hints at a two hour Judging Amy movie, to tie up the loose ends left in the series finale. Want to make sure the movie actually happens? Click below to see how you can help.

CBS is dead to me! Judging Amy was one of the few TV series that had integrity, genuine emotion and absolutely excellent character depth. You actually got to know each and every one of the cast; and you loved them! Yes to the two-hour special, NO to the cancellation, and a BIG YES to Legislating Amy! There's so much more to be explored with these rich characters. I love them and I love/d the show, and I greatly miss Judging Amy!

I have read each of the above and agree with each one.Judging Amy was so good for all age groups.I will no longer watch cbs except for the 2hr show which is so needed.I do so wish that cbs would reconsider and bring this wonderful show back.

Definitely do a 2 hr movie and release the Judging Amy DVD out because it would be great.

I found JA on Hallmark then on TNT. I'm 41yo and am raising 5 kids. I see a lot of kids TV and have no time for mindless reality crap. I get plenty of reality on my own. I need good quality intelligent entertainment. JA filled thet need for me. I've come to adore Maxine and appreciate Amy as she struggles each day. They are the closest thing I get to adult conversation some days. I feel richer for having known them. CBS better come through with a 2 hour final episode and I want DVDs. I couldn't care less about the new shows on CBS, but this show deserves and has earned the right to closure. And I should be able to buy this series for my own. Thank you, Judge Gray and Maxine! I love you both and I'll miss you.

I agree with all comments above and I just sent another email to CBS.com. I implore you to do same. I am also in the target demo, 33 here and feel that the younger audience for the show was always undersestimated based on the faults in Nielsen's measurements. If you are youngish, single, and live alone, you will never be tracked.

I'm not too happy with CBS either...I'm in the age group your talking about 18-49 . I really looked forward to seeing my favorite show Tuesday night Judging Amy.That was a good quality show ,not some simple minded reality show which requires no thinking at all..If CBS wants me back as a "customer" watching their network..They should give us, a special 2-3 hour movie of Judging Amy to tie up loose ends and give fans a proper ending to one of the most outstanding, well written shows in TV entertainment..If CBS thought there ratings were low with Judging Amy...how is a Zero rating? because I'm done watching your network.

I'm 82--a WW2 vet--but too old to matter--only young ones matter. I will not watch CBS again especially after the Rather debacle--A 2 hour movie to properly close JA might ameliorate my feelings

Reality TV has ruined everything. Who needs to see backstabbing frivolous people biting and snarling at each other over petty stupid things. Drama over real life any day. I hope for a Judging Amy movie and would like the series on DVD. The show will definitely be missed.

If there is not going to be another season of Judging Amy, a 2 hour movie is very necessary to tie up loose ends. This show was in the top 20 for years and the devoted fans deserve at least a movie. CBS may stand to loose many viewers with their recent cancelatons and a movie may apease those ready to delete CBS from their viewing lists. I for one have no intention of watching any new show CBS puts out but to know they care about my and other JA fans opinions may change my mind.
