Shelby Foote dead at 88

Foote is the author and Civil War historian who gained fame as one of the lead commentators on the critically-acclaimed PBS series The Civil War.
Foote wrote a book about the war (which he worked for 20 years on, so all you writers out there quit complaining), and that got him a role on the Ken Burns documentary. He was 88.
