Also, changes at The Daily Show

The set still sucks, it looks like some really low budget public access show now. It even seems like the video quality went down. Go from watching conan o'brien in widescreen to this. i can't even watch the show anymore. still a great show, but the set sucks, the taable sucks, and the new haircut sucks.

Democracy does work in America, at least with the Daily Show. The people have spoken and the set has been changed! No more moving screens and no more "Daily Show" coming out of Jon's head. I even like the New York skyline in the background. Good work!

I haven't watched yet (Tivo'ed up for later), but everyone's negative comments reminds me of what Jon said before they left for the break -- "you're going to hate the new set". He must have seen the plans and knew there was trouble ahead.

The new set, especially the background graphics, is horrible! Watching the "Daily Show" coming out of Jons head every few seconds in maddening, annoying, and literally hurt my eyes. Stop this inane background movement. The stage looks tiny and the desk is bland. Fire the idiot that came up with this.

The new set is truly awful, and they acknowledged it on the show tonight. For a larger studio, the set now looks 3 times smaller, the overall atmosphere is chilly, to say the least, and the background animations are not only distracting, but when they do over-the-shoulder graphics, they tend to be really dark and blurry. What a mess. Bring back the cozy chairs, lose the medical examination table/desk and open the background up again - the claustrophobia is oppressive. Where is that lovely steel-grid globe? At least it would add some dimension to the flat-panel 2-D box they've put Jon in. Someone call in a new design team...QUICK!

To echo the above sentiments -- disappointment is an understatement! The studio may be larger but it looks smaller. And, could they have picked a more generic, plain grey table? As always the show has snappy writing and Jon's great, but, all the qualities we know and love aside, the show seemed to have taken a downturn. The interview seemed stilted and artificial, overall it was just kind of bland. New set = bleh.

Of course, the content of the show is still 100% the best, but OW, hard time watching when the moving screen going on in the background. Felt uptight and I felt dizzy after a short bit - had to continually look away. VERY annoying/distracting. Also, echo above posting on the uncomfiness of the interview setup, but maybe that'd be assuaged by the calming down of the screening continuing to come at me. Thanks.

Is it just me, or.... ...just watched the first show in the new studio and have to say....hate the set-up for interviews of guests. Really uncomfortable looking (guests tend to relax on a couch), static camera on just the guest NOT a plus (half the fun of interviews is to see Jon's reaction to what is being said), and, it looks like Jon is bending into a pretzel when he has to face the guest and is trying to look to the camera at the same time....his "takes" to the camera are classic and would hate to see that end if he has to look away from the camera in order to face a guest. Maybe they are still "in training" using the desk with guest, but my first reaction is...yuck. OF COURSE, it is and always will be the best show EVER - just my two cents....

Man, they must be licking their lips!!! The amount of 'stuff' thats happened only over the last few days that they could focus on is huge! July 11th is way too far away :P From the High Court, to the London Bombings, to the G8 summit...omg...can't wait for their first show in the new studio!!! Sure they will prob have already done segments on some of these things, but it'll be great to see how they handle the amount of stuff that's happened.

I'm not from New York so I don't know what any of that means...why do they always give two addresses when saying where something is in New York? Because actual street addresses make less than no sense (on avenues there is actually no system at all and on streets the only rule is that they increase east and west from 5th Avenue). So no one gives street addresses. rather everyone just gives the cross-streets that they're closest to (avenue and street). Building numbers are solely for the people who you want to show up inside your apartment.
