For all of this show's rocker cred, the judging is like American Idol lite. INXS and Dave Navarro are so earnest in their criticisms that there is not a bit of snark in the whole process. Can a show like this work without that little touch of evil? Tonight's performances were as solid as the previous night's with standouts being Brandon doing his version of the Black Crowes's "Hard to Handle," Jordis singing "Heart-Shaped Box" and Ty singing Pat Benatar's "Heartbreaker." Some of the contestants seem more interested in doing an impersonation than a unique performance with Neal as Mick Jagger the younger version, Mig doing a Broadway-inspired young Elvis-like bump and shimmy and Suzie doing her version of Blondie. Also, while I adore Dave Navarro it does seem that he gives extra love to the hot chicks. A question for my fellow Rock Star watchers, do you like the hyped-up live audience or is it a distraction?
