The future of reruns questioned

by Chris Thilk, posted Aug 10th 2005 3:46PM
So here's a question for the entire class, prompted by a post by Joseph Jaffe. Jaffe wonders (via an interview he did with the Sacremento Bee) whether we even need the concept of reruns anymore. After all, popular shows hit DVD pretty quickly these days and services like TiVo means if you like an episode you can have it at your fingertips whenever the mood strikes. Plus, networks are increasingly focusing on new reality shows to fill the traditionally rerun-heavy summer months. So which would you rather have programmed between seasons: Reruns or reality?

I hate reality shows but if they're in the summer and they're as good as hell's kitchen I can take them.

The Game Show Network is broadcasting reruns of reality shows this summer. What do you think Jaffe would think about that? Mind-blowing!

Reruns please, unless the reality is all the people who are on reality now and who have ever been on reality ever being lead onto a cruise ship, set out to sea, and blown up with a torpedo.
