Carlson's Greenpeace remarks anger

by Adam Finley, posted Aug 12th 2005 10:45AM

Tucker Carlson's recent comments about a 1985 attack by French militants on a Greenpeace ship which left one crew member dead have gotten him in a bit of trouble with Greenpeace, though being on cable may protect him from the FCC, which has no power over cable and satellite programs (The Situation with Tucker Carlson airs on MSNBC). Carlson used the tragedy to demonstrate his "objectively pro-France" stance. I have not seen the episode, or heard Carlson's comment in context. If anyone else heard it, feel free to ring in.

Since, sam has given such a detailed and knowledgeable recount of this event...this is probably not needed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenpeace http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4658065.stm http://www.asiapac.org.fj/PJR/issues/back95/95rainbow.html I guess because I don't watch network/cable news...I don't settle for misinformed sound bites and incendiary statements that have no basis or supporting facts and information.

It wasn't French militants, it was France. As in the country. An official action of the french military approved by the government.

Didn't John Stewart already definitively demonstrate what a useless tool this guy is? Why is he even getting press anymore?

tragedy? The "Rainbow Warrior" was a terrorist vessel. It was used to ram peaceful fishing ships, because apprarently greenpeace doesn't like it when people have food to eat or oil to use. Not if it comes from their sacred whales, even legally. During the time of the bombing, they were using to boat to drop people on an island where the french were doing nuclear testing. Killing that one person could have saved all of them. But they don't care. They would have preferred to die as martyrs, they would be going to their level 5 vegan heaven anyway.
