Big Brother 6: Veto #6 . . . backdoor or revolving door?

by C.K. Sample, III, posted Aug 16th 2005 10:54PM
big brother 6If you're wanting to avoid spoilers, don't read too far in this post. I'll try to keep all the juicy parts after the jump, but it's going to be hard. The idiocy of last episode's HoH competition continued to be heavily felt in tonight's episode. The episode began with everyone reflecting upon how Jen broke her word by nominating both Rachel and Janelle, rather than two of her teammates as part of the effort to backdoor James into the hot seat. There was much lamenting by James on how cowardly the backdoor move was. There was much lamenting by Kaysar on how unfair and wrong it was for Jen to break her word and nominate two of his teammates. What both of these guys meant to say during the confessional talks with Big Brother when they lamented these things was quite simply: "I was an idiot. I shouldn't have let go of the button. I do not deserve to win this game."

Check out after the jump for more...

The two respites from all the constant gaming of this episode were Howie modeling his black Speedos and the K-Mart branded co-birthday party for Kaysar and Maggie. They both received cards from their families. Maggie won a PSP and everyone, including Kaysar, was flipping out about it, although Maggie had no idea what it was. Then Kaysar opened his gift: a non-iPod 20GB MP3 player from Sony. He seemed very underwhelmed by it, but politely gave it a "I got a 20GB MP3 PLAYER!!!" shout that wasn't nearly as enthused as his "OH WOW!" at the sight of the PSP.

James with the help of Ivette campaigned against the backdoor switcheroo that would put him out of the house, but going into the veto competition, everyone seemed hell bent on that plan. No one was "gunning" for the veto, so much as eager to make sure that somebody won it. The contest involved throwing circles with the evicted Houseguest's visages on them onto a tiered platform. Each piece had to land on the week that the corresponding person was evicted. Rachel won and took herself off the block, but by the time the veto ceremony rolled around, there had been discussion of getting rid of Kaysar rather than James.

Jen stood up and said that she should evict James because he was dishonest, but that she should evict Kaysar because he himself admitted (way to keep your mouth shut Kaysar) that his team fell apart without him, and then she put Kaysar up instead of James. James literally looked like he was having a heart-attack at not hearing his name. He moved forward with a gasp like he was getting up and then the shock of being spared hit him like a ton of bricks and he just sat there dazed for the rest of the episode as Kaysar went up on the block staring with hatred at Jen for her breaking her word, when it was really his fault for letting go of the button. Welcome to the revolving door, Kaysar. Nobody wants somebody let back in to win.

Of course, there's every chance that Janelle could really piss everyone off before the vote and get the boot, but it is almost sure money that Kaysar is back out. What do you think?

I also loved it when she put him up. That wink she gave during hoh competition was the best. She did what Janelle did during the food comp and people hate her for it and they love janelle. Jennifer did what the others were to afraid to do. Play the game. You would have had my vote Jennifer.

I am so glad Kaysar is gone. He had more than his fair chance and he screwed himself and his team over when he took his finger off the button. Get over it kay lovers. He is gone and will never be back--ha ha he is not even on the jury. I hope Maggie wins.

NBC should put Kaysar back in the house. Everybody wants James out, but he never goes. If they don't get him out soon he just may be the winner. LOL

"He should have received a one week immunity card just like Amy did when she returned to her BB house" If I recall Ainsworth, Amy did not get "immunity" she had won HoH that week and therefore was safe. Let's not skew the facts. If Kayser wanted to be safe, he would have held his finger on that button.

i do not understand the big fuss over kaysar being put up. kaysar was being a smart butt allowing jennifer to get hoh this week. kaysar really thought that jennifer did not have a brain in her head and was going to blindly follow what kaysar wanted jennifer to do and put up her people. American do your really believe if anyone of kaysars people would have won the power of v that they would have used it to save any of jennifers team members. i think not kaysar got out foxed by someone who kaysar thought was a weak link and had no brains

I always hated that they brought someone back. To me if one is voted off, then they lost and that's it, but since it is in the rules fine. Kaysar had a whole week for his team to fill him in on everything, and they did. Not much had changed. It was still his team against Maggies with both of them eyeing James for eviction. Giving someone who is brought back, immunity, was always pretty lame IMO. It is giving them an unfair advantage. If they want to be safe they could win HoH or power of veto. Kaysar had two chances and blew it. I'm not a fan of Maggies team, but Jen did right. She didn't do anything that any of the other competitors wouldn't. Even Kaysar went back on his promise to Eric on not putting him up after Eric rallied for him in week one, so for him to think less of Jennifer for doing what she did would be pretty hypocritical. It's strategic moves like these that keep me interested in the game as opposed to the lame moves that made season one a snooze fest.

Yes, it's a "game" and they are trying to be the last person standing and win alot of money, but fair is fair. Kaysar came back into the house knowing nothing about what had gone on in his absence; it was an unfair disadvantage. He should have received a one week immunity card just like Amy did when she returned to her BB house. Jen was and is an underhanded, dishonest, loser. She has no strategy and just wants to be remembered. How can people remember someone we will no longer watch? Why did anyone waste their time with America's choice - it meant nothing because CBS did nothing to protect whomever came back in. Whether you like Kaysar or not, to leave (again) without even a one week grace period is beyond stupid. I'll watch something else.

I've had a lot of fun watching Big Brother House, each season there are new people to meet, personalities to figure out, quirks to be amused by, game strategies to admire or snort at. It's been very entertaining... until last night, that is. I know that 'it's all part of the game' and Im not so naive as to be shocked by broken oaths. But the double wammy of Jennifer's nominations AND her veto replacement with Kaysar... well... it's just not fun for me anymore. Jennifer's moves are dirty and nasty and this is not what I want to watch on TV. I don't want to see that kind of treachery rewarded. You've lost me as a viewer.
