Rock Star: INXS: Performance Night #8
In the non-performance episode the aspiring rockers went into the studio and created versions of a new INXS song. Surprisingly, J.D. didn't really do that well in this key challenge (learn the words, babe). Jordis changed up the melody which didn't sit well with INXS. Marty started off with his trademark screaming and then when they made him sing it in the female key, did much better. Suzie probably did the best version of the song. In song selection, Mig deferred to Suzie and gave her "Bohemian Rapsody" a song he is deeply familiar with since he sang in the Queen musical. Ty: "You Can't Always Get What You Want" (beautiful but as my co-watcher commented he always seems just a bit too happy when he sings, often throwing off the emotion of a song)
J.D.: "Suspicious Minds" (a very pepped-up arrangement, apparently he used to be an Elvis impersonator but he didn't throw in too much Elvis except for a sneer or two, more and more he just seems like a talented kid with a lot of emotional problems he is working out on stage)
Marty: "Wish You Were Here" (play guitar, doesn't scream, sings with heart, lovely)
Jordis: "Imagine" (plays guitar, a very stripped-down version, beautifully sung)
Mig: "Live and Let Die" (very rock star tonight, more screamy than we usually see him but a very powerful performance)
Suzie: "Bohemian Rhapsody" (I like Suzie but she is no Freddie Mercury, still she gives it her very best)
The bottom three at the end of the show are listed as J.D., Ty and Marty. As much as I really like Ty I think he needs to be there, my bottom three would be J.D., Ty, and Jordis (she's a very pretty and talented girl but her version of the song showed the weak spots in her voice).
