Greenwich Village has a Sex shakedown
Apparently, Carrie Bradshaw is a hollaback girl. Sex and the City stopped filming in 2003, but the show is still causing a ruckus in Greenwich Village. On the show, Carrie lived in the Upper East Side, but the exterior shots were actually filmed at 66 Perry Street between Bleecker and West 4th. Carrie's "home" is visited twice a day by about 50 tourists on the Sex and the City Tour. As reported by The New Yorker, residents of the block got tired of the chattering and picture-taking tourists and wanted payback. So tour organizers responded by donating $5,000 for a retro Bishop's Crook lamppost and $900 for the block's annual fall bulb planting. They also agreed to donate $1000 a month to the Perry Street Block Association. Perry Street might be the home of Sex and the City, but that's a Sopranos-style shakedown.
