Surface: Episode 6

by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 24th 2005 9:19PM

SurfaceI liked tonight's episode for two reasons. One, the government part of the show turned a little nastier, with two killings and mysterious men lurking everywhere. And two, I finally got a definitive answer on how to spell that guy Cirko's name. Cool.

Cirko is run down by a hit and run driver, no doubt hired by his "friend" Lee right after Cirko gave him the results of his research and saying that he knows where the creatures come from. Then Cirko's assistant is hunted when he steals one of the creatures. He's accidentally stabbed by some big contraption (a laser maybe?), and dies, but not before getting the research and the protoplasm thing to Laura and Rich.

Even the lighter, ET-ish story with Miles turned a little darker tonight, with his parents finding the little creature he's been keeping, and Miles taking off (and the wildlife guy getting electrocuted when he tries to zap the little creature). There's a lot of teen angst and family drama here (and also with Laura's ex, as she brings her son to him so he can remain safe), but it feels real and is actually really involving.

This show is great, and tonight showed it's really hitting a groove. Laura and Rich are together, they have one of the lifeforms and Cirko's research, and the government is after them. I'm just curious to see how Miles meets up with Laura and Rich, because you know he probably has to at some point. This could truly become a Must-See show if only more people would give it a chance. In fact, I think it's on its way to becoming a classic. I just hope NBC sticks with it.

(Note: we'll have an interview with one of the stars from Surface in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned.)

I also love this show. I'm wondering if anyone knows why it's not going to be airing this Monday (Oct. 31)?

I love this show as well... by far the best scifi drama on TV.
