Battlestar Galactica gets third season

Great news, BSG fans! We can all stop worrying that this season may be the last for the series (was there really every any doubt?). A third season of Battlestar Galactica has been confirmed for the Sci-Fi channel, just as Stargate SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis have in the last two weeks. This renewal will actually bring the total number of episodes for this series over what aired for the original series in the late 70's. The show returns to finish its second season next January.

There were only 22 episodes of the original Battlestar Galactica (21 plus the pilot). The new version already beat that a few episodes ago.

Attn Bruce: Season 2 will begin in January. Season 3 will begin in July. Season 3 will have a standard Sci-Fi season. Begin in July, end in September (after 10 episodes or whatever half of the season is,) start up again in July. SciFi channel knows they can never meet the ratings taken by the big networks so they always try to air their big guns when regular TV is off. This has been SciFi's standard operating procedure for years.

More importantly WHEN is Season 2 starting and when is Season 3 going to start and how many epsiodes and will they split it up like they did with S2? This is the best show on TV - things actually happen each episode (I'm looking at you LOST) And that season 2 cliffhanger - AWESOME! Michelle Forbes is such a bad-ass... Also I'm sure this was announced awhile ago...

I would go so far as to say BSG is the best drama ever to run on a basic-cable station. (I know many people are fond of FX's The Shield, but I've never seen it.)

Awesome! It's easily one of the best shows on TV and, at least as far as I am concerned, the best Sci-Fi show that's currently (not) on.

You know, I don't think it's the best show on TV (maybe the best SF, unless you count Lost). But...it is one of the shows I anticipate throughout the week. There are very few that do that for me. House, BG, Lost, South Park.
