BREAKING NEWS: Aaron Brown leaves CNN

by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 2nd 2005 3:46PM

Aaron BrownOh, I knew this was going to happen after I turned on Newsnight With Aaron Brown a few weeks ago and saw that it was suddenly Newsnight With Anderson Cooper and Aaron Brown Is Still On It, Kinda

Cooper takes over the show on Monday. What's going into the 7pm slot formerly held by Cooper's 360? More Wolf Blitzer and his The Situation Room, which is slowly taking over the entire schedule.

I just returned from 3 months overseas and was shocked like many others on this thread to discover that Aaron Brown was gone from CNN. There's not much left to watch on CNN. One wonders what they are up to. I hope that Aaron lands somewhere else soon (or maybe he has and I just haven't discovered where yet).

One other thing I discovered while overseas (Germany) was that CNN has another network called "CNN International" which is much better than CNN itself.

I'm watching the rescue of the 12 miners on MSNBC. I'm not crazy about Rita, but I can't stand to watch Anderson Cooper on CNN. I feel like a traitor watching Anderson Cooper, because I loved to watch Aaron Brown at 10:00 PM every weeknight. I feel he was mistreated by the new boss. I'm hoping another network will pick him up and I will again become a faithful viewer of his show. I will now be watching Joe Scarborough for the time being. Janet Adamitis

Arron was the only newscaster that seemed to have a brain. He asked real questions that showed he understiid the issues. He was not afraid to challenge a guest that was trying to give a trivial response. He was also the most fair and balanced and was actually more interested in the STORY than he was in having the spotlight on himself. In short, he REPORTED the news instead of becoming a PART of it. In Essence a very good newscaster with a warm and calming voice.

Aaron Brown and Lou Dobbs are the best reporters on the air. What in the world was CNN thinking?? I hope Aaron makes a big splash with one of the other major networks. I know there are many who will watch him there and forget CNN. I was a CNN junkie but am rapidly losing interest. Shame on you CNN you made a really stupid mistake.

It was a big shock to return from a long trip visiting with family before Christmas to find Aaron Brown gone from CNN. As a senior I found his relaxed way of talking about the issues and inter-viewing even "Angry" people easy to digest. I had at last found someone who wasn't trying to drain that last ounce of personal tradegy from someone in distres with a pressuring, "But how does it really feel to be the parents of a murdered child?" question. The CNN Management has let go the best News Guy they ever had. I'll bet the ratings will prove this to be true. check out the "Daily show" to see your true rating!"

I really missed hearing Aaron Brown. He was the one reason I tune in to CNN. What a loss for CNN!
Anderson Cooper just dont make the cut like Aaron does.
I hope he will be doing news somewhere soon.
He is up there with the likes of the late Peter Jennings. No more CNN for me.

The one reason I loved watching CNN was Aaron Brown and now that he's not with CNN I wont watch it anymore.
I hope to hear from Aaron Brown again wherever he'll go. He brings us the news with his own touch of class with the likes of Peter Jennings.

Aaron Brown is wry, insightful and informative. I really miss him. Incidentally, I also like Anderson Cooper. They are two very different newsmen--and could have worked in a complementary way together. CNN, where is your imagination and courage?

I've watched Aaron Brown since he was in Seattle during the 1980's and then on ABC then on CNN. He was masterful in his critical assesment of the day's news and a compassionate professional during 9/11 -- we watched him sometimes twice a night during the elections -- and during the beginning of the war. CNN only took Aaron off to complete their "dumbing down" of the "news" so airheads could be entertained with non-news sensationalism. I hope Larry King will be able to interview Aaron soon, it will be the most watched Larry King show in history.
Best of everything to you Aaron, I hope you are resting up for the next big adventure.
Thank you for all of your intelligent and thoughtful efforts to bring us a total news story each night. We loved watching you.
