Threshold, Close to Home trading places

Close to Home ThresholdThis seems awfully risky. Mid-way through ratings, CBS is reportedly going to swap time slots for Close to Home and Threshold. Both dramas are in their first season and have the fewest viewers of any CBS dramas. Starting November 22, Threshold will move from its 9 pm slot on Fridays to the 10 pm slot on Tuesdays and vice versa for Close to Home.

I watched the first few episodes of Threshold but I gave up because it felt like the writers took an extraordinary premise and made it typical and boring. And I was surprised to see that Close to Home isn't doing very well because it's a Jerry Bruckheimer production and he seems to be ratings gold for CBS (admittedly, I've never seen it).

If you think Threshold has a better chance on Tuesdays, which is CHOCK-full of great television and up against one of the quirkiest, finest hours of TV in Boston Legal, you are sorely mistaken. What a dire error. You know, I often wonder if they have an office of chimps making these decisions. Fridays WERE ideal, because there really weren't any good shows on (poor Enterprise)and I don't think the slot was the show's problem. The show itself is the problem. You're right... great opening few episodes, great creepy premise and the writers are flushing it all down the toilet with some of the least inspiring s.f. I have ever seen. What a terrific, but wasted cast. I besieged our national TV critic in Canada with e-mails asking him to give the show a chance and when he finally did, he ended up watching recent shows, which were among the dullest of all. Wake up, writers, or you'll be attending the wake for Threshold very, very soon.

Damn, Threshold was my one thing to watch on Friday night. Odd that Close to Home isn't doing well in the old Judging Amy timeslot, should be the same audience. Wonder what the lead in show will be once Amazing Race ends.

This is not necessarily a bad thing. Moving Treshold away from Friday nights might give it a bigger audience. Granted, it wont beat Law & Order: SVU, but Boston Legal might be easier pickings. Of course, there wasnt much competition on Friday either and it didnt do so well. As for Close to Home, this might also be a good move for them. Give them a night where they dont have stiff competition, putting it between popular shows Ghost Whisperer (which I like) and Numb3rs (which I hate), and the show might just flourish.

I believe Threshold is currently on at 9 on Fridays; Numb3rs is on at 10. And Close To Home may do better there than going against Law and Order:SVU; seems like both shows likely have the same prospective audiences.
