American Dad: Stan of Arabia

american_dadI want to like this show, I really do. I just can't love it as much as the other quality shows that are on all around it. Amercian Dad has the. Exact. Same. Plots. Week in and week out. If it wasn't for the fact that this show does have moments of brilliance, and doesn't take itself nearly as seriously, it would remind me a lot of Out Of Practice. I also really dislike how they just shoehorn characters into the show for jokes. Example, Hailey's boyfriend Jeff was on screen for about three seconds last night, just to be eating a corn-dog, though he was never mentioned before or after. *Sigh* On with the show!

With those things said, last night's episode was one of the best that I've seen. Stan's musical number about wanting a "wife" and not a "partner" was pretty funny and almost everything in Saudi Arabia was spot-on. After, insulting his boss, Deputy Director Bullock, at a roast, Stan is given a "promotion" to Saudi Arabia, with his family in tow. Stan blames Fran for everything because she wasn't supporting him by starring in a play instead of being at the company roast.

Once there, after some initial reservations, Stan is thrilled with the culture, especially the parts about his wife (or wives) having to obey every word he says. Steve is amazed that he's considered a grown man and takes advantage of it by buying everything he's ever dreamed of at the bazaar. The girls however, are miserable as they're treated like pieces of meat with no rights. The episode ends with each family member in a horrible predicament except for Stan. He's on the phone with Bullock, quitting his job, burning their passports and denouncing his nationality. It ends with American Dad's first "To Be Continued"

This show is growing on me, I am liking it more, it's just not up to par with Simpsons or Family Guy. I wish they would swap this with Family Guy's time-slot so we could end the night on a high strong note instead of one that's hit or miss.

You're an idiot. This show is a satire about the political situation of the Imperial States of America. This isn't some show about random crap like Family Guy.

This episode was hillarious! My wife doesn't think this show is that funny, but she was rolling on the ground last night. If you missed this episode, try and find someone who taped it.
