My Name is Earl: Ruined Joy's Wedding
This week we see Earl coming to grips with his possibly unresolved feelings for his ex-wife Joy. Number 261 on his list of past transgressions is his behavior at Joy's wedding to Darnell aka "Crabman." Earl wasn't originally invited, plus it was being held on his birthday, which made things more difficult for him to accept. However, he wants to have a friendly relationship with her by stating he wants to be the "Bruce to her Demi." After drinking himself silly at the local bar, Earl goes to the park where the ceremony is being held and proceeds to accidentally break Joy's nose by kicking a soccer ball in her face.
Earl decides to make it up to Joy by helping to arrange another wedding. Things go so swimmingly that Earl and Joy rekindle their passion and sleep together. The next day, Joy is angry and accuses Earl of seducing her. Earl then adds number 262 to his list--slept with Crabman's fiance. The lovers decide to keep it quiet, but Earl is still overcome with guilt and wants to confess to Darnell at the rehearsal lunch. Joy pulls Earl into the bathroom and tells him that she will tell Darnell, but things go awry when Darnell punches out Earl because he thinks Earl slept with his mother. Darnell finally learns the truth, and he and Earl discuss the situation in the restaurant's Fun Zone. Earl convinces Darnell that Joy truly loves him, and to the strains of Bob Marley's "Is This Love" the couple have their wedding in the park. Of course, Joy is still not too pleased with Earl, but Earl has cleared his conscience.
I liked this episode. It was good to see a secondary character like Crabman get some screen time. The music was especially good, with Earl doing an hysterical breakdance to "Bust a Move." I'm looking forward to the next couple of episodes where we'll see the introduction of Earl and Randy's father, the great Beau Bridges.
