Pat Morita dead at 73

by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 25th 2005 11:39AM

Pat MoritaIt's hard to say for what role Pat Morita will best be remembered. Some will say it's his role as the Karate Kid's mentor (for which he was nominated for an Oscar), but I think he'll be be equally remembered as the original owner of Arnold's Restaurant on Happy Days. He was in a ton of other things too, including The Odd Couple, Green Acres, and the movies Honeymoon in Vegas and Thouroughly Modern Millie.

Morita died on Thanksgiving in Los Angeles. No cause of death was given except natural causes.

Pat Morita on Happy Days: He actually came back to the show for a brief period of time when Al Molinaro left to join the cast of the infamous "Joannie Loves Chacchi" for a few seasons.

I loved him in the Odd couple as the Kamikaze who chickened out. FELIX: Why didn't you just go back? MORITA: They only gave one way map.
