Gilmore Girls to end this season?

by Joel Keller, posted Nov 30th 2005 2:54PM
Gilmore Girls : Over? Not sure how much I believe this item, but I figured I'd throw it out there and see if anyone can tell me differently: According to E! Online's Kristin Veitch, the couple behind Gilmore Girls, Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, are going to end the WB series this year, mainly because they will be working on a new show that will be shot in New York. Veitch mentions this in response to the second question in this chat transcript.

It seems like Veitch is making a leap in logic here. Just because the Palladinos won't be working on the show on a regular basis doesn't mean that the show is over. It can continue with other writers and show runners.  Just look at The West Wing.  It went on after Aaron Sorkin left, and it's just as good as it used to be... uh, well, maybe that's a bad example. But read Veitch's transcript with a big grain of salt by your side. I'll believe GG is over when I see it's over.

Gilmore Girls will be back for at least one more season. Word is that only one of the Husband & Wife writing team behind Gilmore Girls is leaving to develope a new show.

I sure hope that Gilmore Girls doesnt end this season! Sure its going through a hard time where the best thing to write about is DNA, but it seems to be turning around. With Rory back, it's just like the good old days in the first season!

That would be absolutely atrocious if Gilmore Girls continued with another writer. I would rather it end this season than continute another season with different writers. I've heard that ASP knows what the last two words of the last episode will be. Does that mean she would have that in the season finale for sixth season or she would tell the new writer and they'll put it into the last episode of the 7th season. Also if ASP quits and another writer is brought in, can ASP still be around occasionally to give advice on where the story goes?

AS-P and DP have put way too much time and talent into making this show great. Sure this season has been rocky but it wouldnt be realistic if relationship static was solved in one hour timeslots. Kristin may be the dishing diva over at E! but this is a situation that I'd rather go with my gut on ... I'll believe it when I see it.

As much as it pains me to say this above my once-beloved show, I wouldn't mind if it ends this year. If all they have left up their sleeves are unrealistic DNA science fair plots, maybe it is time to think about ending it.

I've heard intimation to this effect as well... But I'd also always heard that A S-P wanted to take it to Rory's college graduation... So I guess we'll see...
