If it ain't broke, don't fix it. That's a motto rarely heard from television networks these days. It seems like they're always trying to monkey with shows by adding big-name guests, switching nights, or just plain canceling the show because they don't get how great it is (AD). But, not FOX. Well, at least, not with
American Idol. The talent show is such a ratings behemouth that FOX decided not to change its scheduling. There was speculation last month that
Idol might move to Thursday nights, to maximize ad revenue, but FOX decided against that plan.
Idol will be seen on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, as usual, starting with the auditions episodes of January 17. Now that FOX made its announcement, NBC and ABC can figure out their winter schedules, because who wants to go up against
American Idol? There's word that NBC is considering moving
My Name is Earl to Thursday nights so it doesn't go up against
Idol. And, ABC is supposed to finalize its winter schedule sometime today.
