Survivor Guatemala: Episode 12

by Deidre Woollard, posted Dec 2nd 2005 12:18AM
juddAs we begin, Danni vows that she will survive and shows off her energetic gymnastics skills. It takes us just a few minutes to get into the challenge so it's obviously going to be a long haul. The reward is the traditional auction. Everyone gets $500 and Danni is first to bid, snapping up some beef jerky for $20. Cindy gets cookies for $40. Lydia spends $140 on a mosquito net. Judd and Steph and Danni and Rafe join their forces. Danni and Rafe pick up a steak sandwich giving Judd a serious case of meat lust. Danni spends $200 for a mystery envelope that purports to be some sort of advantage in the next challenge. It's about that time and right on cue the families of the Survivors arrive. Bidding gets hot fast. Lydia loans money to Steph. Judd gets money from Cindy. Judd wins his wife for $880. Judd has to invite two other Survivor families with him to spend the night in camp and he picks Steph and Cindy. The other Survivors have to go to the other camp which provides ample time for scheming. The immunity contest is a chess-like challenge that includes a rotating platform. Danni's secret immunity envelope allows her to exchange positions with any player one time. We time lapse through this one and Cindy leaves early. Danni switches with Steph which really angers our lovely sore loser. It's a battle of the babes shoot out between Danni and Steph and Danni wins much-needed immunity. Steph and Danni have a private confab in which they both appear to be lying to each other. Steph seems to be pretty eager to get rid of Judd which seem surprising considering that he lives in her back pocket.

Judd manages to dig his own grave at tribal council not really knowing of the secret plot against him and ends up as blindsided as Jamie. He leaves bitterly saying he hopes they all get "bit by a freakin' crocodile."

Next time: Cindy was the one out of the loop and there is some sort of "awful dilemma."

i just knew judd would react that way, and i thought it was fantastic the way he was running his mouth at the council. that made his booting even more tasty. it seems like every episode people forget to change mindsets. in the beginning you want to get rid of the weak players and keep the strongest to win challenges. now that its all individual, you need to get rid of the stronger and keep the weaker. why the people on the island never remember that is beyond me. lydia might just make it to the final two and that sucks.

When I saw the others plotting before Judd was voted off I had the sudden urge to sing "Pore Judd Is Daid" from "Oklahoma". I haven't liked the guy from the start and just knew he'd react that way when he went if it wasn't in first place. If the remaining players are smart (this group?) they'll get rid of Rafe, and Steph ASAP because they're most likely to win competitions. On the whole I now like Rafe's chances better than anyone's.

They ironic part is that Steph did exactly what she blamed Judd for doing. She's a turncoat and really for no solid reason. One thing I never understand is in a game when everybody lies, why people sometimes take other peoples word at 100% value. In this case, Judd and Steph were tight but instead of asking Judd what was said to Danni & Lydia, she believes them 100% -- even though their ass was on the line that week. I think this will really bite her in the ass. Not bringing Cindy into things I think is a crutial mistake on their part as well. There are 5 people left. Steph/Rafe are tight. with Danni, Lydia sort of a team and Cindy on the outside. So if Cindy's pissed, she aligns with Danni & Lydia and vote out either Steph or Rafe. If they kept Judd, they were guaranteed final four. Judd had a right to be pissed in my eyes - granted I'm a little biased because he was my original pick :) - because he was ousted for really no reason. And to top it off he was blindsided. He mistake I guess was saying anything at all to Lydia with Danni there.. but people talk ALL the time on that island. One thing is for sure is that if Steph is in the 2, she can count Judd out for a vote.

Proving some Survivors never learn, Judd talked too much at Tribal Council. Then, after declaring whoever is voted off will just have to "deal with it'...he didn't. Well, maybe calling everyone "scumbags" over and over and hoping they get chomped by a freaky Crock is Judds Junior High way of "dealing with it" LOL.

You missed Judd's parting shot of "Scumbags". And this right after his "it's the game" speech: "someone has to go so we can all move up". The man's a boor and this was a long time coming. I'm still wondering when they're all going to wake up and realize that nice-guy-Rafe is going to walk away with this unless they stop him...

I gotta hand it to Dani. She has really amped up her game and has one upped Gary on manipulating the others. If I were on the Island I would want to take Lydia and Judd with me to the final three. The last challenge is always one of endurance and Judd could never stand still for any length of time. Lydia just loses every competition so she wouldn't last in an endurance one as well.
