Curb Your Enthusiasm: The End
Sure, it's the close of the season, but "The End" is an awfully ominous title for this episode. I mean, it's not like they'd kill Larry off or anything would they? Sure they would. He's pretty much pissed off everyone here on earth, why can't the afterlife deal with him for a little bit? Although, I have to admit, I'm as surprised as anyone that he ends up in heaven. But enough with the punchline, let's get to the setup. On with the show! After Louis Lewis wakes up, Larry realizes that the burden of donating a kidney is going to fall solely on his shoulders. He's still undecided though and even more torn after seeing a ghostly image of Richard wandering the hallway of the hospital. Before he can put too much though into it though, Omar Jones, his private detective, contacts Larry with the info he's been searching for this entire season: his parents' true identity; he was adopted! Larry goes to Arizona to visit his birth parents and quickly settles into the role of their son, but he discovers an even deeper secret about his heritage. He's a gentile!!!!
While in church with his new mom and dad, the priest gives a homily on the benefits of being a good friend. Larry has a moment of clarity and leaves immediately to go to the aid of his friend Richard. As he's heading in for the surgery, Omar comes running in, telling Larry he made a horrible mistake; he's not adopted. Larry immediately reverts to his old selfish ways and starts protesting the surgery, but it's too late. Two months pass, and while Richard Lewis is sitting in paradise, sipping on a mixed drink with a beautiful woman, Larry is dying. After some final words to his friends and family, Larry passes away. In heaven, he meets his two guardian angels. He immediately starts hounding them with questions, and while they're able to answer them all for the most part, they quickly realize they've got their hands full. His guides have a quick pow-wow and decide to send Larry back. Even paradise can't bear him.
OK, it was a good episode and all, one of the best of the season, and seeing Larry in heaven was great, but season finale?? This season was painfully short, it seemed like it just started a few weeks ago. Sure it kind of did, but I just really, really want to see more of Larry. I don't want to wait another year and a half for more of this curmudgeony old fool. Now, there's not even going to be any new programming on HBO until March. Tony and the gang can't get here quick enough. Let me know what you think.
