Third season of Chappelle's Show coming... sorta.

Dave Chappelle - Season three comingJust got passed another tidbit by comedy blogger supreme Todd Jackson of Dead-Frog.com. It looks like Comedy Central will be producing a "sorta" Season Three of Chappelle's Show. According to this article in Variety, CC will piece together episodes from the material Dave Chappelle shot before he took a "sabbatical" in South Africa last winter, in effect walking away from the show and his $50 million contract.

CC showed clips of the upcoming "season" during its taping of Last Laugh '05, showing Dave's take on Cribs and the Morgan Spurlock documentary Super Size Me.

The plan is to have the episodes appear first on CC's online delivery service, MotherLoad, then air on the network. Both events will take place sometime in 2006. No matter what, I'm glad to see the material see the light of day, even if it's the last non-standup material we see from Dave for quite a long time.

It's weird reading this piece and the one at zap to it, making it seem like Dave's dead or something.

Joel's right, there will be no intros - but the actual number of episodes they have to work with is roughly four or five. I'm still wondering what Chappelle's reaction will be.

You probably won't see any of those introductory bits Dave did in front of a live audience, though. That's one of the things that made the show unique.

Earlier this year Charlie Murphy said they had 8 of the 12 episodes in the can, so it should be similar to a regular season, even though some what abreviated.
