Oh yes, this iceland beauty is just that ... beautiful. I am from the States and could care less which gorgrous lady wins this contest, so obviously all Americans only care about this one thing. Get over it people, the pagent is just another useless fashion show with the charity part tacked on so that our "Compassionate Conservatives" have less to whine about. The one person who linked a picture of this lady in a bikini -- yes, airbrushing does wonderful things to people's faces, doesn't it?

When have we seen a ranting moron like you get anywhere in life? I'm sure listening to alice in chains and marilyn manson all day sure brightens up your day. And ranting on the internet over some pointless sh.. like this really makes you feel better?. Get a life before its too late please.

Unnur's special talent is dancing... and of course all the contestants spent many hours in the gym, they were supposed to work out and practice for the competition for 5 weeks... but Unnur is always fit physically because of her interest in dancing (and I think she also teaches dance) so, she is really healthy and that is what younger girls should think about, not being skinny, it is the healthy look, that Unnur has, that makes peaple like her!!! and as everyone is saying there were 2.2 billions of people that watched the competition and her job now is to make money for the 3rd world and travel around the world, not just being beautiful like you might think... have a healthy life!!!

I do believe this contest is very good in one aspect. Young girls looking for role models. Especially since now they are focusing more on their talent and not the looks. Don't misunderstand me, I think Unnur Birna is very beautiful but she is also very talented and goal orientet young woman.Another thing that Miss World does is to use the attention that she gets to make people notice poverty and bad conditions that many people have to live with. Believe me there are enough people out there that need help. I just wish her the very best.

I, for one, couldn't agree with your article more, and I'm sure most Icelanders would agree with you. I didn't even know Miss World was still around until I saw who won on the evening news. Just wanted to point out that starving yourself or having an eating disorder doesn't work in the contests today, It might have sometime in the past when the girls where just judged on how their body was shaped. Today the girls that get picked by each country are usually VERY fit, they work out alot and are very organised with their diet and exercise. Take it from a trainer, they are judged on the skin, how their body is toned by muscles and alot of other things. If these girls are not healthy they wouldn't look like that. So I actually think they are a good role model for others, if you look like they do you MUST be eating well, because you can't work out like they do with no food in your tummy.

What channel is this on? I thought it was canceled becuase the rating were sooo bad last year...! Also, I couldn't stop "hahaha"-ing when someone posted the link to this on a forum. Yah, she's a cute piece of "meat"!
