Who's that girl?

evangeline lillyPoor Evangeline Lilly. She's a huge star/sex symbol right now on Lost, but her past is coming back to haunt humiliate her. I was fast-forwarding through the commercials on last night's Late Night with Conan O'Brien when I spotted a familiar face. It was Evangeline Lilly... pitching a singles' phone line! She's pretty awful in it, but let's face it, those ads are never any good. I can't figure out whether the ads are old or new. The ad I saw on Conan looked kind-of recent because of her long hair, whereas the photos on the Live Links website look older. There are several versions of the ad on the company's website, and all sorts of pictures of Evangeline Lilly. The only thing is there is no reference to who she is, which makes me think that she wasn't a big star when she filmed them.

Anyone know the story? Is she still the Live Links spokesperson? Or, is Live Links digging up her old stuff because she's a huge star now?

No no no. Don't you see! This isn't a commerical from Lilly's past. This is another piece of fluff that the Lost producers are putting out there as part of the character back stories. It's like the Oceanic and Hanso websites. Pretty soon we will see a commerical made a couple years ago with Jack offering cheap kidney transplants and a video on MTV Classics with Drive Shaft. See, Kate had to make some money when she was on the run and also needed to recruit a 'gang' to help her rob that bank. What's more perfect that running a phone hotline with desperate guys calling in willing to do anything to meet up with a hot chick? It was between when she got her ex-boyfriend killed and when she was picked up in Austrailia. It's so obvious...

Steve Harris, of *The Practice* fame, can be seen eating some food in a Weight Watchers commercial. They used to play that a lot when the show was still being televised. And Jim Carrey is very prominent in *Once Bitten* before sinking into obscurity before finding fame in *In Living Color*.

Thought 1: Morena Baccarin from 'Firefly' and 'Serenity' was in a deodorant commercial which sucked. Thought 2: Jim Carrey was in 'Peggy Sue Gets Married' as a supporting character. After his career took off someone started advertising the movie as "With Jim Carrey!" They were sued them because he was in about two, maybe three scenes yet they presented is as if it was his own movie.

I've been seeing these commercials FOREVER. I think I first started seeing around when Lost aired. I saw Evangline and I was like "Woh I know her, she's from Lost, is she really that desperate?" I never understood those chat lines either, it's like "I'm 5'7, brunette, 120 lbs, big breasts, in great shape, very intelligent goood sense of humor" and all you're basing this on is their VOICE. Anyway's she doesn't need it anyway's, she has Dom!

It's an old commercial that wasn't used for a while. Then a talk show (can't remember which) dug it up and showed it on air to Lilly and that i'm guessing is when LiveLinks decided to send it out in the advert spots again cause they did it very soon after that talk show.

Guess I'm a little behind the times... that's what I get for always fast-forwarding commercials on TIVO.

I love it when you catch someone who is getting high tone in a commercial that is obviously getting more play because of the change in the career trajectory of one of the players. There is a Dr. Pepper commercial, the one with the "manna manna" guys and singing that features one of the guys from Numb3rs as the waiter that I've been noticing playing a lot lately. Funny stuff. puff
