G4 gains 'Star Trek'

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Dec 19th 2005 7:26PM

Star TrekHey Trekkies! As if there weren't already enough stations playing Star Trek reruns, add G4 to that list. The video-game focused cable channel owned by Comcast is in the process of acquiring the syndication rights to both the original Star Trek and it's first spin-off series, Star Trek: The Next Generation. Both series have already been around the block a few times... in terms of syndication. TNG can currently be seen on SpikeTV. G4 is in the process of rebranding itself after its focus on video games didn't attract the audiences it expected. Other recent shows purchased by the network include The Man Show and Fastlane. While financial figures were not disclosed, launch dates were. TNG debuts on January 8th, while Star Trek won't be seen until sometime after April.

Meh. Spike TV pretty much wore me out on TNG. I've seen every episode 5 times at the least. I can't watch it or DS9 anymore. Now, if someone, anyone would syndicate Voyager again, I'll TiVo each and every episode.
