Getting engaged is so, like, "in"

Wendy, must disagree on the Angie as a homewrecker thing though. It takes two to tango and Aniston/Pitt marriage was long before ovah before Jolie got into the fold. Plus, how come it's Angie's fault and not Pitt's fault? You can flirt all you want but at the end of the day it's a person's own choice to cheat if that was the case. I say, good luck to them and perhaps they're smart enough not to marry. God knows they don't need it to get benefits :P

I agree; marriage is the new botox, if you ask me. With all of these marriages and divorces and affairs and whatnots, it makes you wonder what, exactly, the religious right is trying to "protect" when they talk about the sanctity of marriage and how gays shouldn't desecrate it. What's left to desecrate when you've got home wreckers like Angie Jolie, Billy Crudup and Tori Spelling slinking around?

Being "engaged" has become what we used to call dating or going steady or you know, "will you wear my members only jacket". But because saying "we're dating" or "we're exclusive" isn't so media sexy anymore and it doesn't warrant the same kind of paparazzi frenzy or just attention from friends and family, they're trying to amp it up.

My favorite one's still Kimberly Stewart's engagement. Oh, we're not engaged anymore, it just didn't work out... there's a shocker! What were they, dating like 2 months?!

I think these women just want that fancy proposal and ring, what else could it possibly be?!

Also, getting married has become "the thing to do". Seriously, I'm convinced these people are just getting married so they could say they've done it, they've had the wedding, the honeymoon - been there, done that.

It's become a thing, like getting rid of that pesky virginity, instant repellant for bitchy relatives who keep asking "when are you going to settle down, get married, have kids?" To counter their partygirl reputation.

I wish you'd have to take some kind of IQ test and compatibility and psych test before you can even get a license to get engaged. And gays want the right to marry. Psha. I say, give them the same legal right and straight people can just friggin' keep their marriage, it's a joke anyway.
