Sick of watching a ball drop? Watch Jim Breuer!

Tired of watching the ball drop on New Year's Eve? Don't
care about Regis, Carson Daly, Dick Clark, or Ryan Seacrest? Feel like laughing? If you're a Comcast customer, you'll
have a pretty good alternative. CN8, the Comcast Network, will be showing a four-hour special called CN8 Presents: Celebrate '06,
aired live from Orlando. The special will feature musical performances by acts like Styx, The Funk Brothers, and Gloria
Gaynor (hey, it's a cable special; be glad they can get anyone decent), and comedy from Kevin Meaney, Jeff Dunham, and
one of my favorite stand-ups, Jim Breuer. You folks know Jim Breuer; he played Goat Boy and Joe Pesci, among other characters, on Saturday Night Live from 1995-1998. He currently has a fantastic show on Sirius Satellite radio, as well as a cartoon series in the works. He's also a very nice guy.
How do I know? I interviewed him a few months ago, and he couldn't have been nicer or more accomodating. Unfortunately, you can't read that interview without paying for it, so I'll direct you to an equally fun interview he gave TVGuide.com. I'm completely biased when I write this, but I hope he gets more exposure in 2006, because he truly deserves it.
So, you can either watch the ball drop, or watch a funny guy talk about his childhood, his family, and his days on America's most famous sketch show. If I had Comcast, I'd choose Breuer. It's not a bad way to ring in the New Year, if you ask me.
