by Ryan j Budke, posted Jan 12th 2006 12:27AM
lostHere's this week's podcast episode for last night's episode of Lost: The 23rd Psalm. It's just me, no C.K., our AOL overlords actually gave him time off for his birthday today, so that will probably gain us a lot more listeners (unless you're an Apple freak). Our podcasts are meant to be listened to as commentaries, so cue us up and hit play right as you start the episode, then listen for the signals to pause us for the commercials. This is the first episode after our entirely too long six week break, so we're anxious to hear back from you guys, let us know what you think.

When Eko explained that Aaron delivered the words of his brother Moses, I was reminded of how Charlie wrote all the lyrics for Driveshaft, but the words were sung by his brother Liam.

The HIGH PRIEST Connection

I've not seen this anywhere else yet... So I thought I would share in a new thread. I'm a pastor of small groups in a non-denominational church in Northern Kentucky. Not only am I totally caught up in the show, but my wife and I, along with our next door neighbor do a weekly hour long podcast devoted to lost called "Generally Speaking."

Here's my thought....

In the 23rd Psalm episode... Mr. Eko is carving more scripture passages into his "Jesus Stick." (I love that!) Claire and Mr. Eko have a very interesting Conversation. I'm only going to stick to the talk about Aaron's name for this post.

Mr Eko tells Claire that Aaron was a great man. He spoke for Moses because Moses had a hard time speaking for the people.

Thought the Old Testament was boring? Think Again...

Think that Moses was chosen by God because of how FAITHFUL he was? Think Again!

In fact, God called Moses to speak for His words to the poeple and Moses gave excuse after excuse of why God should go and find somone else! It's unbelievable how many times reaffirmed Moses yet Moses still neglected to have faith even after signs and miracles during his intial calling. Finally God got ANGRY with Moses and his lack of faith and told him to use his brother Aaron to speak for him.

It really is interesting to read... Read Exodus Chapter 3 & Chapter 4:1-17 (It's nowhere near as much reading as that looks like. Chapter 3 is very short and 17 verses of chapter 4 should only take about 5 minutes total to read...

So now you know why Eko mentioned that Aaron had to speak for Moses. But there is a much larger tie in here. Recall Eko is very interested in WHY Claire show the name Aaron. Then Mr Eko is asked a large number of occasions if he is a priest. The term priest has come up so much that it made me think about this point...

In the Old Testament book of Leviticus in Chpater 8 verse12, Aaron is anointed as HIGH PREIST as the Lord Instructed!

What is the significance of anointing Aaron (from the Bible) as high priest?

The high priest had special duties that no other priest had. He alone could enter the Most Holy Place in the tabernacle on the yearly Day of Atonement to atone for the sins of the nation. Therefore he was in charge of all the other priests.

As Christians, we believe that the Old Testament High Priest was a picture of Jesus Christ who is our High Priest. The one who brings Salvation from Sins.
Hebrews 7:26-28 (Talking About Jesus) Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.

So what is the tie in here? Is there a connection between Mr. Eko and Moses? Is Aaron supposed to be the "High Priest" that has the ability to atone for all the sins of the people on the island or the world?

I'll let you guys take it from here!

Thanks
Cliff
