Will and Grace live again tonight for some reason

by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 12th 2006 6:22PM

Will and Grace Actually, that headline might be a little bit too snarky. I actually don't see anything wrong with Will and Grace doing a second live show (tonight at 8) in the same season. A lot of people think that they're just doing it as a ratings ploy, but are they? I mean, how much of a ratings ploy can it be when the show is in its last season anyway and only have a handful of episodes left? Personally, I'd love to see the networks take a page out of TV in the 50s and do more live episodes, of both comedies and dramas.

NBC has a live blog up for the episode here.

The first live show was unmissible and just showed how fabulous and utterly lovable these actors are and the script for that episode was one of the finest. So before you mock it lets see you try it.

HOW CAN ANYONE NOT ADORE WILL AND GRACE???????
W&G is the only sitcom that has made me crack up every minute since 'Friends'. The writing is genuis and the actors are hilarious. There are alot of pretty crappy shows on at the moment as all the decent ones are finishing: friends, sex and the city, fraiser and now W&G. Poeple who don't appreciate the brilliant comedies are dull. If W&G was rubbish would it be a worldwide success and running for 8 series, I don't think so!!!!

Im not a fan of live episodes - the video looks like a soap opera.

The only funny episodes of W&G are the live ones. They are the only ones I tune into for reasons other than not being able to find anything worth watching.

As I recall, the Fox series "Roc" in the 90s was so successful with the live angle that they basically switched over to live telecast for the entire season. It was a surprising testament to the strength of that underappreciated ensemble (too bad the show wasn't that funny to begin with).

I agree, though -- I'd like to see someone do this again for a sitcom. (Sketch shows don't count.) The W&G ensemble could probably pull it off if they stopped cracking each other up so much.
