John Doe coming to SciFi

by Anna Johns, posted Jan 15th 2006 9:04AM
The short-lived series John Doe is airing on the SciFi Channel beginning next week. John Doe premiered on FOX around the same time as Firefly, and suffered a similar fate (John Doe got a full 21 episodes). John Doe is (obviously) a science fiction series about a guy who wakes up on an isolated island, knowing pretty much everything about the world except who he is. Doe, played by Dominic Purcell, helps Seattle detectives solve crimes as he searches for his own identity. It premieres on SciFi on January 20 at 9pm EST.

I never saw this series when it first aired, did you? Is it good?

AWESOME. Great show, can't wait to watch it all again. It was crazy how it ended, and that being the last show. Thanks for the wikipedia link, but I would have liked to see it play out, and why Digger was a mole and all. great show and great concept. everyone NEEDS to watch it...or at least download it.

I really liked this show, but I thought the season ending got a little too weird. I was pretty pissed off when this was cancelled.
Next I hope they bring back 'Touching Evil.'

The show also had a great season (series) cliffhanger....*sigh* it was really too bad it didn't last.

This was a really fun show to watch much in the same vein as Lost. A big mystery with little clues being revealed throughout the season. I guess it was just ahead of its time, not to mention Fox put in on Friday nights and then premepted it a lot of times. Way to go FOX.

The fact that it ends on a cliffhanger is sort of a downer, but if you look it up online, you can find out what the writers were planning to do with the show and how they were going to end it. I dont see a tv movie or miniseries ever happening.

By the way, you can catch the same actor in Prison Break until Fox cancels that as well.

You know what I wish they did with these series that end before their time. They should continue them in comic book form. Much cheaper to produce and you only need 80-100,000 people to buy the comic book for it to be a huge hit. This way the shows would live on but simply in a different medium.

Hi

Look or Don't look ?
I watched all the 21 eps when they were first shown but it was one of my show that i taped and watched when nothing else was one, sometimes even some weeks later. One of the point's that drew me back to the tapes all the time was Jayne Brook which i realy like to see on TV. Over all i have to say for me it was no surpirse that the show was canceled. The main story got so little movement into it at the start ans so you had episode after episode of the same stuff (he helps to rescue) and that told in a way that changed little and so it became very obvious that it was always the same. (there are show that do the same over and over but they do it in a little differnet way sometimes).

Spoiler Part:
for all of you who want to know what was planned in season 2 or more, look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Doe_(TV_series)

Of course the best thing about "John Doe" was William Forsythe as John Doe's friend, landlord and advisor "Digger". Of course I'll watch Forsythe in just about anything because he's just that good.

Yeah, this was a great show. I still haven't watched the last 6 or so episodes I have on tape, so it's great to have it on TV again.

Oh, and as for the ending and who John Doe is and how he knows everything, the creators actually revealed the rest of the plot in an interview a year or two ago.
