"Rock Star" gets to keep playing

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Jan 17th 2006 8:30PM

Rock StarI had no idea this show did well but it must have because today it earned a second season. The first time around Rock Star, produced by Mark Burnett, featured aspiring singers all vying for one grand prize: the job as the new frontman for 80s rock band INXS. Applications for next season are already being accepted at CBS.com and Burnett expects plenty of people to get involved as evidenced by the spike in popularity of INXS, who now have a sold-out North American tour. Rock Star will return this summer but there have been no announcements regarding which band or which job(s) will be at stake.

I for one hope it does well again for Burnett. He could use a boost of confidence after the miserable abomination that was The Apprentice: Martha Stewart.

If I remember correctly, Sammy Hagar said that the biggest problem Van Halen had on their reunion tour was Eddie's drinking. DLR and Sam both want to rejoin VH, but, Eddie is screwing it up.

How about Rock Star: Guns 'N Revolver? Find a replacement for Scott Weiland in Velvet Revolver and give us the GnR revival we were expecting.

Maybe they can find someone for Van Halen or Genesis.

ROCKSTAR kicks ass, much better than american idol. the music is awesome, and with rock music, voice quality is not as big a factor, its more about image, style and on-stage presence, which is what really matters anyways.
