Not the first arrest for American Idol twins

Terrell and Derrell Brittenum, the first set of twins to rock the American Idol auditions last week, have a history of run-ins with the law. Terrell has been in a Georgia jail since January 10th. He was arrested on a warrant for using someone else's identity to buy a $23,000 Dodge Magnum. His brother, Derrell, is wanted on the same charges.

The Brittenum brothers also have criminal records in Shelby County, Tennessee (they're from Memphis). Terrell has a handful fo traffic citations and he was also charged with a misdemeanor for disorderly conduct and indecent exposure. Derrell was arrested for stealing more than $500 and writing bad checks.

I'm pretty sure American Idol does background checks on its contestants now, but I'm not sure at what juncture in the process they do them so it's unclear whether Idol producers knew about the twins' past.

You're sadly mistaken guys. If you have the ability you WILL surely go places, and they've got it. They didn't make it on the Idol show(neither did William Hung), but all this has done was given them MUCH publicity. I wouldn't be surprised if the brother's don't have a contract waiting on them when they get out of jail. Be on the look out. Ability is what sells, not the lack of character. Remember the Miss America scandle with Vanessa Williams. It was a little embrassing for her at first, but look what happen shortly after that. Everytime you turn around you're seeing her face on the tube or in a magazine.LOL

After watching Idol and learning them from what I've seen, I did think they talked too much and seem like con artists (gift for gab in other words). Actually they got on my nerve. It was something about them. It's ashame that you could read it so easily from day one. Well, their careers are over now fa sure and no need to convince us (the audience) because they surely will not get my vote or $$$. I do, however, wish them an ever change and learn from their experiences as we all do. Life is not always a hustle because you are a minority. Just believe in yourself as they preached and not practice.

I am glad these two whine-bags are off the show...I was just sad to see it happen the way it did instead of someone (simon cowell) telling them that they are snivelling spoiled scumbags and are NO ONE'S idol. I bet they were full of stories and excuses when they were proccessed in jail. Ok so you can sing... Im not knocking that...but whats up with all the whining and complaining? Its probably an over-protective mother issue... hopefully you get a few years in prison and get over it.

Of course American Idol knew.

They featured them on this week's show about 5 times!
They are building up to an eviction to get all of American talking about the show.
