More on Lost: Missing DHARMA Initiative Video?

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Jan 25th 2006 2:27PM

Dharma InitiativeThis is actually pretty cool regardless of whether or not it turns out to be legit. Supposedly this video is another "lost" portion of the Hanso Foundation instructional film strips that we've seen on Lost. Check it out - there's no narration, which bugs me; just some ominous music accompanies it. I will say though, it does look like the real ones we've seen on the show.

A few things that seem off though? Why does the DHARMA logo change for each of the company's divisions? If that makes no sense, watch it and you'll see what I mean. And who's the bearded guy that looks like Paul Giamatti at the end of it? Plus, why couldn't we understand what founder Alvar Hanso was saying? It's almost as if his voice was muffled on purpose. Then there's the date. It was "copyrighted" 1981... did the other videos from the show have a copyright date? I couldn't remember.

If you need more of this check out the "actual" Hanso website for the original video, but what does everyone think of this "new" video? Is it for real and somehow got leaked or did someone with a video camera just get bored last weekend?

There's going to be 8 Dharma sites in total - one for each side of the logo. One site will be revealed every series thus Lost will run for 8 series culminating in a movie where everyone dies and a new plane blows up over the island.

The music is actually the Japanese National Anthem except it is done in a lower Key.

I'm sure it's a fan video. http://www.youtube.com is just a filesharing site w/ ads. Unless Damon Lindelof was the uploader! :)

Unrelated to the video.

Q: Why do the "others", who appear to hae been on the island for a long time, look so disheveled and avoid the comforts of the 6 bunkers? Afer all both sets of "newcomers" found ways to enter then within a month.

To view the original video on the Hanso website, click on "Active Projects" and then move the mouse cursor down the list until the words "Dharma Initiative" appear - then click it.

Albus Dumbledore

Yeah, that guy at the end looks just like a younger version of the guy that took Walt and confronted Jack...they are both men and both have beards....creepy.

Good catch Noah. You'll also notice that the "real" bunker logos have the word Dharma in the middle where the fake ones don't.

Where is the original video on the official Hanso foundation website? All I see is the text project list.
This video really doesn't disclose anything new, in terms of projects they were working on. Those have been on the foundations website since we saw the orientation video. Really the only new nuggets are the copyright date and the different symbols for the other stations. I am a little disapointed by the new symbols, they're not as simple as the other ones.

I found another typo - after it says "Alvar Hanso, a hands on approach to research" - "and surveyor of of overseas facilities" - huh two ofs - come on people, you can download a grainy film effect for imovie and slap some japanese monster movie orchestra soundtrack to it, and bam you got yourslef a Hanso video. At first I was like cool, but the second time I watched it, I noticed how crappy it was. To bad, to bad. The writers know what they are doing, and I doubt they would even put something out as bad quality as this. And yes I said the writers know what they are doing. Listen to the official podcast that they do, they sound very pleased with how Lost is going, and are very confindent in the story. Peace out guys and girls, enjoy tonight's episode because then we have a nice two week break - Feb. 8th is the next episode after tonight.
